I once read that while Todd has mostly taken over the Pern series for his mother, he wasn’t allowed to write any of her stories or characters. He had to come up with his own. Todd is currently writing books that take place at the beginning of the 3rd Pass, while the main story written by his mother takes place in the 9th Pass. From what I understood, it was part of his contract. Now that his mother is gone, maybe that will change, but maybe it won’t.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve re-read the Pern series and the number of daydreams that I’ve had about what it would be like to impress a dragon.

Such a shame that she didn’t achieve her ambition to write that final story but how generous she was to pass the baton along to her son, Todd. I imagine that he has her notes and that she will guide his hand if he ever decides to write it for her… or at least I hope so.

She’ll be sorely missed.

This would stand on the cupboard or window ledge, whichever was closest. You can still buy these today.

He explains exactly what they should be doing and not doing. It’s just that he seems to be moody to me. Normally I love Bruno, but he got a little carried away with Chaz, I think. He didn’t really need to be called an Ewok or a penguin. I’m not a fan of the Kardashian family, but I think Rob is doing really well and coming out of his shell. He’ll have something of his own now and he should be proud.

I’ve always loved the Kardashians though. Rob is nearly 3 years older than me!
