I’m not going to mention this politician’s real name because I don’t want any crazy people landing here from doing a search.  I’ll call him Doofus Bananatush.

The big news story broke because Doofus admitted that he had an affair a couple of years ago.  Don’t expect a lot of specific facts from me, because I just don’t care enough to check on them.  Anyway, when Doofus was first accused of having this affair, he vehemently denied it.  He said it was just ridiculous and it was tabloid trash, blah blah blah.  Well, for some reason, he now admits that he had an affair with this woman.

I have so many issues with this whole thing.  There is a child involved and everyone wants to know if Doofus is the child’s father.  Doofus adamantly denies it.  Just like he adamantly denied the affair until very recently.  He’s done a television interview and he tries to look so sincere.  But seriously, does he really expect anyone to believe him?  He acts like he does and I just cannot fathom why.  Does he think that because he is finally admitting to the affair that he’s suddenly a good guy?

To make it even more disgusting, Doofus’ wife has cancer.  In his admission of guilt, he pointed out that his wife’s cancer was in remission at the time of the affair.  As if that should make a difference.  The interviewer asked Doofus if he was in love with the mistress.  Doofus replied that he has only been in love with one woman for the past 31 years – his wife.  I would totally slap his face if I was his wife.  And Doofus has no clue how disrespectful he is being toward her.  If he’s so in love with his wife, why did he have an affair?  Well, at least her cancer was in remission, so I guess it’s ok.

This man ran for Vice President of the United States on the November ballot in 2004.  He has run for President in the primaries more than once.  Don’t misunderstand… I don’t expect the President or anyone else to be perfect.  And I don’t consider myself to be a prude.  I know people cheat.  It happens all the time.  But for Pete’s sake, can’t he keep his pants on while he is in the public eye like that?  Does he really think nobody will find out?  Then to blatantly lie about it, following it up by a lame confession…  that just irritates the crap out of me.

Doofus’ wife is “standing by him” just like politicians’ wives always do.  That sickens me, too, because I don’t believe for one minute that she is actually ok with what happened.  She has been publically humiliated.  Oh, and her cancer is no longer in remission, so she’s dealing with that mess, too.  It makes me wonder about the wife because why would she stand by such a smarmy husband if not for the politics, money, and power involved.

Hopefully, Doofus’ political career will be ruined and we’ll never have a President Bananatush.
