Movie Review – Iron Man
I went to see Iron Man at the dollar show, where it’s $1.25 for the matinee shows and $1.75 for the evening shows. I don’t know what else to call it, though, so it remains the dollar show.
Iron Man was surprisingly good. Robert Downy, Jr. was fantastic. Whatever problems he’s had with drugs and jail seem to be under control. He looked great… healthy, in good shape, and outstanding as Tony Stark. It really surprised me. I’ve never been a fan of his, but I really really enjoyed him in this movie. Seriously.
The special effects were very good. They didn’t look obviously like CGI or animation. The robots that Tony built had cute personalities. Oh… and he had an awesome collection of cars. Hubby was drooling and then almost crying when one was destroyed. Heh.
The story itself was quite interesting. Tony Stark is the owner of a weapons development company that sells to the military. He was in the Middle East for a presentation and got kidnapped! The guy is a complete genius and built the Iron Man suit using parts of the weapons that the terrorists give him to make a new rocket with. He ends up building a much better suit when he gets back home and it’s way cool.
My eyes were glued to the screen in fascination… until about 2/3 of the way through the movie. Apparently, I’m able to accept a guy flying around in an Iron Man suit with no problem, but when his enemy makes a bigger better Iron Man suit, I start to have a problem with the “realism”. Don’t ask me why because I don’t know. It just is what it is.
It was left open for a sequel, which I really hope they make. I would definitely go see it.
Four stars for Iron Man! Wooty tooty!
